Google Deletes Unclaimed Places Listings
There have been numerous reports from Business owners that that they are getting emails from Google with the subject line: “Action Required: You have 3 weeks to save your Google Places Listing.”
Many Busniess owners have not received the email as it has gone straight to their Spam folders or have ignored or deleted the emails believing it was a hoax.
Google has confirmed that these emails are genuine. Google always wants to deliver the most current and accurate data available to it’s users. This clean up of old unclaimed listings will deliver a better user experience making sure that what you are delivered relating to the local Google Places or Maps listing is the most up to date information available.
It is important to make sure that if you receive this Google notification you take it seriously and act immediately as this is a time limited offer for you to make sure you Business stays on the map. It also affects your Google ranking, so it’s best to claim the listing as soon as possible and make sure it’s optimised to give you the best result possible.
To confirm your Google Places listing log into Places for Business and look at your business information.
Make sure you confirm all the details, updating any areas as required. Ensure you save your changes by hitting Submit before you finish.
I recommend you complete this process for all your Business listings by February, 2014, to stay on Google Maps.
This will ensure you avoid the long process of adding and verifying a new Business listing.
