Kate Leahy’s Village Festival Road Trip

rolls into Moranbah!

We’re super excited to be bringing our show to Moranbah!  Picture this… the best venue in town, with some of the most talented musicians from CQ launching their brand new CDs.  You’ll even get to enjoy some of Moranbah’s upcoming artists…  All round, a fantastic night of live music!

The Village Festival Road Trip is a unique fixture on the CQ calendar, taking the Village Festival on the road, connecting artists across the region, giving locals the chance to mix with professional musicians, and showcasing some of the finest talent that the region has to offer!

A big thanks goes to both Creative Capricorn and Moranbah Arts Council for funding this show!  Their support means that you get to enjoy this event for FREE!!!  Aren’t they great!

The Line up includes:

Kate (and band) will be performing songs from her brand new EP ‘Bring home more’, as well as some of her earlier songs.  Check out this music video of the first song from the EP, ‘cool water’.  Click on the photo to watch!

Weathered is releasing a new EP.  Click on the pic to see his latest video for ‘carnivore’.  He’ll be performing with a full band too.

Steve is a musical institution from the Coast and will be kicking the show off with his original blues (the happy blues!)

There will be free workshops from 4pm at the Community Centre, and you can choose from SINGING or SONGWRITING.  And the night of music starts from 7pm at the same venue.

Entry: FREE           Plus Dinner & drinks will be available!

Anyone wanting to take part in the music workshops in any of the Village Festival Road Trip venues, needs to REGISTER HERE.

Futher Information – Please read.

“The Village Festival of Arts and Music is Central Queensland’s largest music and arts celebration staged annually by the Keppel Coast Arts Council with their tenth birthday this year.

The Festival is a kaleidoscope of contemporary culture with something for everyone featuring music, performing arts, visual arts, cultural arts, children’s activities, street theatre, workshops, food, stalls and onsite camping.

The event includes both national profile artists as well as local and regional talent in a range of mediums with an emphasis on active participation in the arts. The Village Festival is supported and managed by a large group of volunteers who share a common vision to stage an event that showcases and promotes their region’s positive and vibrant commitment to the arts. Patrons include not only local residents of Central Queensland but also arts and music enthusiasts from throughout the state and around the country.”

This year, to help promote the festival as well as showcase some of the amazing talent coming out of our region, the Village Festival are having a road trip with 3 established musicians visiting regional areas. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to include Moranbah for this concert, & was wondering if you could pass this email along to members of the MTA to help advertise the event. They’re more than welcome to display or distribute this poster – in fact, the more advertising the betterJ  A free workshop will also be held on the afternoon before the concert, where aspiring singers/musicians can learn some useful tips from the travelling artists. Anyone who attends the workshop may also be eligible to perform on stage with the professional artists during the concert. Those wanting to participate in the workshop can register here: http://kateleahy.com/gigs/

Please find attached poster promoting the Village Festival Road Trip being held on August 9th  at the Moranbah Community Centre.  Thanks go out to Moranbah Arts for sponsoring this event. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
